Hey Phil, I just wanted to say what a pleasure it was meeting you at the Songwriters Festival at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa last year. I found your insight in to the music business very helpful and I love so many of your songs I couldn’t pick a favorite.
Hope to see you back at the Surf

    Phil,
I just wanted to send a note of gratitude to you for joining us all at the lounge in Red Deer the other night after the golf tournament. My only regret is letting you silently slip out before asking you to add your signature to my Miranda Lambert-signed Gibson, (and for not having a capot tucked away in my purse!), but I do sincerely thank you and Buddy Owens for christening it for me! That was just the cat’s ass! Denny and I felt that the experience you guys gave us with that guitar was worth even more than Miranda’s signature on it – a once in a lifetime moment in time for us.
Funny…I was chatting with Buddy the previous night at the auction. When I asked him who else he had written with, he had mentioned Craig Morgan, who is one of my favorites and in my opinion, very under-rated. I particularly love “Love Remembers” (it has been my ipod wake-up song for the last 2 weeks!)…and Buddy had mentioned that a friend of his wrote it. Who knew that the very next day I would meet you and be fortunate enough to have shared that moment in time listening to you play the guitar we bought at the auction? I am not a big believer in coincidences- I believe in something BIGGER, and no one could ever tell me that evening wasn’t a cosmic creation of God in bringing some strangers together just for the beauty and rarity of it. As an English teacher and poetry lover, I have a serious appreciation for talents such as yours, the natural ability to evoke such strong emotions and imagery with words and melody. As a country music fan, I envy and admire that talent in creating beautiful melodies and blending them with powerful images so well. I know that pickin’ on a guitar in a lounge was probably just another day at the office for you and Buddy, but for us, who sat hanging on your every words, every notes… I know I’m not the only one who was, for about 3 minutes, thrust back to a time to a place when I too wanted to “Suffer In Peace” with a broken heart….well for us, that was a God wink for sure, and a priceless one. So thank you for taking the time to spend with us…and God bless you!
